Sugar Wax vs Shaving

As part of our series comparing sugar waxing as a method of hair removal with the many other methods used, this week we are looking at sugar wax vs shaving.

Shaving is one of the most popular methods of hair removal used across the UK. But how does it compare to Sugar wax?

Speed

Shaving is undeniably one of the quickest hair removal methods available. Quick and easy, shaving can very easily form part of your daily bath or shower routine.

Sugar waxing does take longer. It can take up to 30 mins to do a pair of legs.

The Ouch Factor

Shaving doesn’t come with the ouch factor of sugar wax – unless you cut yourself or you nick and ingrown hair.

However, shaving can also damage the skin and cause ingrown hair, and those nasty red spots that appear as a result.

Sugar wax also comes with less of an ouch factor than other waxes. Being a 100% natural product, it only sticks to the hair and it doesn’t take a layer of skin off. The pain is like removing a plaster.

Lasting results

The main area where sugar waxing with beats shaving hands down is on lasting results.

Hair regrowth is encouraged by shaving, and with stubble regrowth, it needs re-doing every couple of days to keep things smooth.

Sugar waxing removes the hair from the root, weakening the re-growth which causes the hair to grow back finer and finer with every treatment. The sugaring re-growth period is 4-6 weeks but it leaves your legs feeling smoother for longer.

Looking at sugar wax vs shaving, sugar wax offers a real, lasting finish, and you’ll find regrowth is slow and far less obvious than with shaving.
